Vision: Empowerment for “Hunger & Dependency-Free Human Race”

Mission: “To Help to Heal the Hurt of Hunger and the Consequences of Poverty”

PATHHSEO devotes and engages various programs and services to help in the fight against hunger, the dependency of services and the many social repercussions of poverty.

Our objectives include but are not limited to closing the gap of health disparities, addressing homelessness and the lack of access to economic opportunities in our community.

Through the collective efforts of our membership, workers,  volunteers and partner agencies we attempt to engage and familiarize the Morrisania community in the Bronx regarding the resources that are available.

We utilize all resources available to us including the financial,  material and professional assets of our membership corps in order to achieve our strategic and sustainable objectives and our overall mission.

Our Story - PATHHSEO AT CALDWELL TEMPLE

PATHHSEO is a product of Caldwell Temple Soup Kitchen which was established by Reverend Nathaniel B. Legay and Mrs. Gloria Legay, who dreamed of enhancing the family lifestyle of the community and church members.
The primary concern of Reverend and Mrs. Legay, was the difficult financial circumstances of their congregation and community members. Neighbors and members of the congregation did not qualify for assistance from governmental organizations and only needed a boost to carry them over each month.
Looking for a way to bridge the financial gap for their neighbors and congregation the Caldwell Temple Feeding Ministry was formed in September 2000. The manpower and financial support were provided by the congregation. Hot delicious meals we served faithfully the second and fourth Saturday of each month for 10 years.
As the years went by, the demand for services increased. Volunteers and workers began to look for additional venues and supplies to meet growing needs of the community.
Through the vision of Sandra Reyes, the effort of the dedicated volunteers and the guidance and support of Reverend Henrico D. White and Micheal Rapley, the PATHHSEO”Programs, Advocacy Towards the end of Health disparities, Hunger and food insecurity via Service ,Education and Outreach” launched in July 2010, with the vision of a " Empowerment of Hunger-Free Human Race" and a mission to “Help to Heal the Hurt of Hunger and the Consequences of Poverty".  (In Spanish, the word "paseo" means a pleasant, leisurely walk or stroll, especially one taken in the evening in which young people may socialize with each other.)
Today PATHHSEO serves the community in many capacities, Tuesdays evenings we provide pantry for approximately 450 individuals, Saturdays of the month, providing over 500 community meals in-house for individuals that suffer from food insecurity.
We also provide HIV, blood pressure and health screenings. medical consultation and referrals, SNAP and WIC screening and referral, Flu clinic/vouchers, nutrition classes, bi-yearly parenting and sex education workshops, clothing closet, special holiday community meals distribution and clothing drives with the sponsor of New York Cares.
Children, Seniors, and Teenagers presents for distribution during the Winter Holidays with the sponsorship of New York Cares. "Upper Room" is a mobile outreach feeding, clothing program for undomiciled and homeless individuals.
PATHHSEO continues to expand its services to meet the ever-increasing needs of the community. PATHHEO is a solo volunteer organization.
