Our Vision: Empowerment for “Hunger & Dependency-Free Human Race”

Our Mission: “To Help to Heal the Hurt of Hunger and the Consequences of Poverty”

PATHHSEO was born of the Caldwell Temple Soup Kitchen, founded by Reverend Nathaniel B. Legay and Mrs. Gloria Legay. Their vision was to enhance the quality of life for both the church congregation and the surrounding community.

Reverend and Mrs. Legay were deeply concerned about the financial hardships faced by their neighbors and church members—many of whom did not qualify for government assistance but still needed help making ends meet. To bridge this gap, they established the Caldwell Temple Feeding Ministry in September 2000. Supported by the congregation’s manpower and resources, the ministry served hot meals on the second and fourth Saturday of each month for ten years.

As the years passed, the demand for services grew. Volunteers and staff sought new ways to expand their reach and secure additional resources to meet the community’s increasing needs.

Building on this foundation, and through the vision of Sandra Reyes, along with the dedication of volunteers and the guidance of Reverend Henrico D. White and Michael Rapley, PATHHSEO — Programs, Advocacy Towards the end of Health disparities, Hunger and food insecurity via Service, Education, and Outreach — was launched in July 2010.

Today we operate weekly food pantry, soup kitchen, and a mobile soup kitchen as well as partner with other organizations to provide a full suite of social services. We have grown a bit.

The name carries a special meaning: in Spanish, “paseo” refers to a pleasant, leisurely walk or stroll, often in the evening, where people come together to connect and strengthen community bonds.
